Take Root Day #1

Take Root

  • Be |What should I be because of what I read?

  • Own |What truth does this verse show me that I need to own?

  • Love |The goal of instruction is love. (1 Timothy 1:5)

  • Do |Now, what can I do to better Be, Own, and Love.

Applying scripture boldly will allow it to take root in your life but being surrounded by other sequoias will better prepare you for the storms ahead. Be BOLD is seeking to surround yourself with likeminded men. Go over these scriptures with your group or journal alone until you recruit some comrades – if you need help getting connected let us know!
Take Root Day 1  1 Peter 1:1-5
1 Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, To those who reside as strangers, scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, who are chosen 2 according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the sanctifying work of the Spirit, [a]to obey Jesus Christ and be sprinkled with His blood: May grace and peace be multiplied to you.
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable, undefiled, and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 who are protected by the power of God through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
What a powerful opening for a letter.
Peter has one claim about himself – He is an apostle of Jesus. That is all he says regarding who he is.... There is much to learn from that…we try to mention things that we think will impress or turn the light on us. But Peter (like Paul) will only boast in Christ.
The basis of the message - we are strangers, we are scattered, and we are chosen.
The letter will tell us about a God who according to His mercy has redeemed us, has given us an inheritance of imperishable value, and reserved a place in Heaven for us….
