 Day 25

2 Peter 1:1-4
 Simon Peter, a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ,
To those who through the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ have received a faith as precious as ours:2 Grace and peace be yours in abundance through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord. 3 His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4 Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

It really is all about Him. Through Him we received faith. Through knowing Him we have grace and peace in abundance. His power has given us everything we need to live a godly life…and through His promises we escape the corruption of the world.

How can we be anything but grateful and longing to please Him?

If we understand this - arrogance is an impossibility and compassion for others will be natural.

Take Root Day #6

  Day 6 1 Peter 2: 4-8 4 And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by people but is choice and precious in the sight of God, 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For this is contained in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a choice stone, a precious cornerstone, And the one who believes in Him will not be put to shame.”  7 This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for unbelievers, “A stone which the builders rejected, this became the chief cornerstone,”8 and, “A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense”; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this they were also appointed. The point that jumps out at me from this passage is that there is no neutral ground here…. Take Root Day #7

  Day 7 1 Peter 2:9-12 9  But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for  God’s  own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;  10  for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. 11  Beloved, I urge  you  as foreigners and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts, which wage war against the soul.  12  Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe  them , glorify God on the day of visitation.
