Day 37

2 Peter 3:8-10

"8 But do not let this one fact escape your notice, beloved, that with the Lord one day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years like one day. 9 The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief, in which the heavens will pass away with a roar and the elements will be destroyed with intense heat, and the earth and its works will be discovered."

We ain’t like Him. He is not slow…He is patient…and He loves us all!

BUT the day is coming.  No one will expect it…they will all have decided that “science” is god - they will be arrogant and self-assured -   and suddenly everything will become clear. 

There are two very distinct facts about God – He is loving, and He is holy. Those two clashed in His children and resulted in the Cross.  The cross allows both traits to co-exist. If we disregard either attribute, we will be misinformed and in danger. 

Never confuse patience and love with weakness…. they are signs of power, and that power will determine our eternity.

Take Root Day #6

  Day 6 1 Peter 2: 4-8 4 And coming to Him as to a living stone which has been rejected by people but is choice and precious in the sight of God, 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up as a spiritual house for a holy priesthood, to offer spiritual sacrifices that are acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 For this is contained in Scripture: “Behold, I am laying in Zion a choice stone, a precious cornerstone, And the one who believes in Him will not be put to shame.”  7 This precious value, then, is for you who believe; but for unbelievers, “A stone which the builders rejected, this became the chief cornerstone,”8 and, “A stone of stumbling and a rock of offense”; for they stumble because they are disobedient to the word, and to this they were also appointed. Take Root Day #7

  Day 7 1 Peter 2:9-12 9  But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for  God’s  own possession, so that you may proclaim the excellencies of Him who has called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;  10  for you once were not a people, but now you are the people of God; you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy. 11  Beloved, I urge  you  as foreigners and strangers to abstain from fleshly lusts, which wage war against the soul.  12  Keep your behavior excellent among the Gentiles, so that in the thing in which they slander you as evildoers, they may because of your good deeds, as they observe  them , glorify God on the day of visitation.
